Current and future images of Ukraine

The purpose of the panel discussion is to present and discuss the results of sectoral and interdisciplinary research devoted to the analysis of current and future images of Ukraine and Ukrainian culture, functioning in local cultural practices and social experience of the regions of Ukraine, as well as the EU, OECD, Asia and former Soviet republics.

The organisers believe that the panel discussion will have an important practical impact on the future administrative solutions needed to consolidate Ukrainian society, to develop social partnership practices, and to increase the effectiveness of international cooperation in the field of culture, science and education.

Expected outcomes

Presentation of national and international, current and future visions (images) of Ukraine and Ukrainian culture based on a range of modern, evidence-based and reliable sectoral and interdisciplinary research.

Priority application areas:

  • Ukraine's and Ukrainian culture's images in regional cultural practices of Ukraine (language, religion, art, social values, etc.)
  • Current and future images of Ukraine in the cultures of EU countries and their regions.
  • Current and future images of Ukraine in the cultures of OECD countries and their regions.
  • Current and future images of Ukraine in the cultures of Asian countries and their regions.
  • Current and future images of Ukraine in the cultures of post-Soviet countries and their regions.

The organising committee encourages the presentation of the results of participants' primary empirical research. In the case of presenting the results of theoretical research, the presence of an empirical component is mandatory. Regional studies are welcomed.

Languages of the panel discussion are English and Ukrainian.

All papers are accepted and published in English only, whereas the oral presentation could be delivered in Ukrainian. Both the British and American English spelling is allowed, but their mixing within a single text is not acceptable.

It is planned to publish the abstracts of speeches before the beginning of the panel discussion.

The participants of the panel discussion will be invited to publish the results of their research in special issues of the journals "Future Human Image" (for articles in the field of Arts and Humanities) and "Ukrainian Policymaker" (for articles in the field of Social Sciences and Public Administration).

The deadline for the submission of the abstracts is February 10, 2020.

The deadline for the submission of the articles is March 10, 2020.
